Danzer Group’s Responsible Procurement Policy (See section policies) applies to our procurement of North American species (such as Cherry, Walnut, Maple, Oak). Legality is no issue due to well developed forest legislation and enforcement in North America. Sustainability is given as harvesting levels have remained well below the level of growth. According to the FAO, the forest area grew about 1.4% (4.5 million ha, ca. 9 million acres) since 1990. The stock grew 9% at the same time (5,35 billion m³). Two of the main species offered by Danzer - maple and oak – have been also significantly growing in stock (about 1 billion m³).

Nonetheless our environmental performance can be enhanced, e.g. by training the methods for logging with reduced environmental impact. All these activities are embedded in our Environmental & Safety Management System (ESMS), which is certified to the ISO 14001:2004 standard.
